What Is Danger Coffee?
Dave Asprey built his name with Bulletproof Coffee — the high-fat, mycotoxin-tested coffee brand that helped mainstream the idea that coffee quality matters for how you feel. After selling Bulletproof in 2021, he launched Danger Coffee in 2023 with a new angle: remineralization.
The premise is that conventional brewing strips minerals from your body via acidity, and that Danger Coffee's added mineral blend (50+ trace elements) counteracts this. The Science: Does Remineralization Work?
The mycotoxin-testing claim has more backing than remineralization. Studies confirm ochratoxin A is present in many commercial coffees at low levels, and higher-quality sourcing and processing reduces this. Whether the levels in standard specialty coffee cause measurable harm to healthy adults is debated — but the testing is real and meaningful for the immunocompromised or highly sensitive.
Mineral remineralization is less proven. The idea that brewing removes minerals from your body and that adding minerals to coffee restores balance is not supported by robust clinical evidence. What Does It Taste Like?
